We were contacted by the lovely folk at Winstones Ice Cream, initially to refurbish an existing freezer room and install new refrigeration, and then later for the installation of a new freezer room complete with 2 refrigeration systems.
Situated on Rodborough Common, overlooking the beautiful Stroud Valleys in Gloucestershire, Winstones ice cream is one of the longest running and most highly awarded ice cream parlours in the country. Using the finest local ingredients to make delicious ice cream, Winstones share our passion for providing quality and service and we were delighted to work with such a prestigious local business.
We were required to refurbish an existing freezer room and install new refrigeration, suitable for the storage of their well-renowned Cotswold ice cream. The ceiling of the freezer room had started to bow, and the floor panels were beginning to lift. We replaced all the ceiling and floor panels, finishing the cold room floor in galvanised steel sheets. We also designed and installed 2 new refrigeration systems, with the back-up system offering complete peace of mind to the client. The ‘refurb’ freezer room was 3.00m x 8.50m x 2.30m high and the 2 new Danfoss/Searle low noise remote refrigeration systems were installed with an 8m pipe run, operating at a temperature of -25 degrees. Winstones were delighted with their refurbished freezer room and later contacted us to discuss further improvements to their existing cold storage.
Refurbished freezer room
The following requirement was to replace an older, existing freezer room with a new freezer room and refrigeration system to provide reliable cold storage for their ice cream, and similarly to include a ‘back up’ system. We de-commissioned, dismantled, removed and safely disposed of the existing freezer room. We then supplied and installed a new freezer room and 2 refrigeration systems, with each freezer system capable of holding -25 degrees independently should the other unit fail. The new freezer room was 4.00m x 7.00m x 2.50m high and the 2 new Danfoss/Searle low noise remote refrigeration systems were installed with a 15m pipe run, operating at a temperature of -25 degrees.
